Each tintype is one of a kind — no negatives, no duplicates. I scan every plate after it’s washed and dried, and you’ll get your scans by email within 5 days. Your physical tintype ships after varnishing — usually within two weeks.
During Your Session
A tintype takes about 10 minutes start to finish.
I use flash indoors, but you’ll still need to hold steady for a clear image.
What to Wear
Skip pure white or black — mid-tones and textures like denim look amazing.
Glasses often glare; if possible, bring an old pair without lenses. Retakes aren’t possible if glare happens.
Makeup tip: red lipstick looks bold and beautiful; purples and pinks usually photograph as pale or white.
Porch Tintypes
From May to October, I offer traveling porch sessions. Shoot me an email at kelsa@collectivetypes.co to set something up!
